This past weekend, the 18th, 19th, and 20th of December, Gilchrist County and the surrounding communities were blessed with the 6th annual free drive-thru Live Nativity presented by your friends and neighbors of the Jennings Lake Seventh Day Adventist Church. Every year the event takes place at the farm home of the Hicks and Robertsons family, located on CR 313.

Signs and miniature silver stars led the way through Trenton, past Lancaster, to the Nativity scene where over 300 cars packed with families were given the opportunity to experience the true story and meaning of Christmas. Cars were greeted warmly at the entrance by the Robertsons, hosts who informed the visitors to tune in to radio station 107.5 FM where the Christmas story was broadcast to accompany the drive-thru scene. A cast of over 45 Biblical characters, including live animals, brought the Nativity to life. Real camels and sheep were a rare and special addition to the scene. In the drive-thru, visitors witnessed the angel bringing the good news of the Christ child’s birth to the shepherds, and drove through the town of Bethlehem past merchants and civilians in robed attire until they reached the Nativity scene itself in which the three wise men brought their gifts to Mary and Joseph. Carolers sang loud and clear in the cold night air at the end of the drive-thru in praise of the Christ child’s birth.
Participants braved the wind and the rain on Friday night, and extremely cold temperatures Sunday night, to present the wondrous story to the community.
A special thank you goes out to the community for their continued participation in our annual event. To help make the scenes come alive, we would also like to thank several families for the use of their animals: Juan and Hilda Rivera, Benny and Brenda Jerrels, and Al and Geri Cruz. Your contribution was such a blessing! We look forward to uplifting Jesus Christ by inviting everyone to come and experience our 7th Annual Free Live Nativity on December 17th, 18th, and 19th, 2010.
