Bell woman hospitalized after hitting horse

A Bell woman traveling east on CR 232 was seriously injured when her Chevy Impala struck a horse that was standing in the center of the highway at midnight on Monday,
Trooper Alan Harrison of the Florida Highway Patrol reported that Sara Milner Dennis, 62 of Bell was eastbound with James Dennis when the couple failed to see the dark colored horse standing in the road until the last second.
The front left side of the vehicle struck the horse, causing the car to travel north along the shoulder of CR 232 before rotating clockwise. The horse remained in the center of the road after sustaining fatal injuries.
Gilchrist County EMS responded to the accident and transported the driver and passenger to the hospital for medical treatment.
Sara Dennis sustained serious injuries from the impact of the horse coming onto the vehicle hood and windshield.
James Dennis was treated for minor injuries. There were no charges filed in relation to this accident. The owner of the horse is unknown at this time.
