Sgt. Ricky Lord Road to be a portion of Veterans Hwy SR 26

The Florida Legislature will take action to designate SR-26 from Fanning Springs to the Alachua County line as Veterans Memorial Highway.
The House of Representatives by Rep. Debbie Boyd, Dist. 11, sponsored HB 321 and will have a portion of Veterans Memorial Highway from the Levy County line to CR 313, the western portion of SR 26, designated as Sergeant Ricky Lord Road.
The Florida Legislature has designated the Department of Transportation to erect suitable signage to identify Veterans Memorial Highway beginning at the Gilchrist and Alachua county line, as well as in Fanning Springs, as SR 26 turns north in Gilchrist County.
Sgt. Ricky Lord Road will have highway signage from Fanning Springs north where CR 313 crosses the Nature Coast Greenway and intersects with SR 26.
Rep. Boyd reported this act of the Legislature will take effect July 1, 2010.
