A 12-day-old baby was taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon following a rollover accident on State Road 47, just north of Trenton.
According to Trooper Jesse Moore of the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2003 Chrysler minivan driven by Chelsea Hartmann, 21, of Wesley Chapel, veered right onto the west shoulder of State Road 47 before spinning, striking a tree and rolling over. The accident occurred just north of the Gilchrist Club entrance at 3:07 p.m.

Hartmann reportedly told the investigating officer that she had attempted to avoid animals on the highway causing her to lose control of the vehicle.
Hartmann was traveling with Hans Hartmann, 23, also of Wesley Chapel and three children Tristen Hartmann, 3, Avigail Hartmann, 3, and Adrianna Hartman, 12 days old.
“There weren’t any obvious signs of injuries in the crash,” Trooper Moore stated.
The newborn baby was transported to Shands Hospital for precautionary reasons because of her age.
Charges in the accident are pending further investigation.
