Traffic stop ends in meth arrest

Submitted
Late last Wednesday night, Gilchrist County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to make a traffic stop in the area of Fanning Springs when the vehicle traveled over the bridge into Dixie County.
Once the vehicle had been stopped, Gilchrist County notified the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office who dispatched a Dixie County deputy. During the course of the encounter, deputies learned that the driver, Jason D. Branch, 29, of Old Town, held an active Violation of Probation warrant for his arrest.
Branch was arrested for the VOP and during the course of the arrest deputies discovered an active methamphetamine production taking place in the vehicle.
At this time the deputies requested assistance from an investigator to neutralize the production. Once the investigator was on scene the lab was neutralized and an estimated weight was established.
Based on this, Branch was also arrested for Trafficking in Methamphetamine and Manufacturing Methamphetamine.
