Wilks faces challenge for Trenton City Council seat
By Carrie A. Mizell
Qualifying for municipal elections in Bell and Trenton ended on Friday afternoon with only one city council seat being challenged.
Trenton resident Jamie Gordon qualified to run against current city commissioner Arlene Wilks in a municipal election scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 6.
On election day, polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Trenton voters should cast their ballots at the Trenton Community Center, which is located at 214 SE Third Avenue, for either Wilks or Gordon.
Trenton Mayor Glen Thigpen and Bell Town Council members Iris Roberts and Ray Sanders faced no opposition last week; therefore they will remain in office, each serving a two-year term.
