Best friends since they started kindergarten together at Trenton Elementary School, KaSandra Cowart and Jessica Perryman now share the title of 2009 Trenton High School Homecoming Queen.
Cowart and Perryman were crowned Friday night during halftime of the homecoming football game. Though the Tigers fell short of a victory against the Wildwood Wildcats, running back/linebacker Karson Gilbert felt like royalty after being crowned 2009 Homecoming King.
Festivities held throughout the week to commemorate homecoming included a classroom door decoration contest, dress up days for each day of the week, Tiger Growl on Thursday night and finally the annual homecoming parade.
Early in the week students helped teachers decorate classroom doors to show their Tiger pride. Winners of the classroom door decoration contest were: first place-5th grade, second place-Dual Enrollment classes and third place-6th grade.
High school students performing fairy tale skits were a riot at this year’s Tiger Growl. Winners of the skit contest were: first place-9th grade, second place-10th grade and third place-11th grade.
On Friday afternoon, as the sidewalks filled with people, law enforcement vehicles, fire trucks, beauty queens and band members strolled down Main Street in Trenton along with a plethora of brightly decorated floats. Winners of the float competition were: first place – 9th grade, second place – 11th grade and third place - 5th grade.
“Congratulations to all the students, parents and sponsors who did a fantastic job in preparing for Tiger Growl and the parade,” said Lynette Langford, principal of Trenton Middle High School. “Congratulations to all!”
