Kaitlyn Wiggins and O.J. George were crowned Trenton High School’s 2010 homecoming queen and king last week as the school celebrated in grand style.

O.J. is the son of Denny and Hallie George. He was crowned king during Tiger Growl on Thursday night. O.J. was chosen by his peers from a pool of homecoming king candidates, including Wyatt Durrance, Daniel Perryman and Tyler Brown.
Homecoming queen Kaitlyn Wiggins was crowned Friday night during half-time festivities, much to the delight of her proud parents Scott and Tonya Wiggins. Kaitlyn was among four senior girls, Alyssa McElroy, Kayla Sinclair and Taylor Langford, selected as homecoming queen candidates this year.
Lynette Langford, principal at Trenton High School, said on Monday that this year’s homecoming theme, “Don’t Get Board, Play the Games of Homecoming” was an excellent choice.
“I would like to express a special thanks to the SGA sponsors and all the SGA representatives for a job well done,” Langford said. “Everyone, parents included, seemed to have a wonderful time creating/displaying their board games throughout homecoming week.”
Last week the student body dressed in theme each day of homecoming week. There was no school on Monday of last week, but students came dressed for Holiday Day on Tuesday, Hobo Day on Wednesday, Theme Day on Thursday and Spirit Day on Friday.
In keeping with the homecoming theme, students in each grade selected a board game that they decorated their float and hallway decorations from and planned their Tiger Growl skit around. The senior class chose “Candyland,” while the juniors opted for “Clue” and the sophomores selected “Life.” The freshman class decorated around the game “Operation” while the 8th grade students decorated around the game “Trouble.”
“Mouse Trap” was the theme for the 7th grade class. Sixth grade students decorated around “Sorry” and fifth graders opted for “Chutes and Ladders.”
Winners of the hallway decoration contest were: First place-8th grade. Second place-5th grade. Third place-6th grade.
In the skit competition, which was held on Thursday night at Tiger Growl, the 10th grade class’ skit placed first, while second place went to the senior class and third place was awarded to the 9th grade class.
The senior class’ “Candy Land” float placed first in the float contest on Friday during the homecoming parade. Second place went to the 9th grade class with their “Operation” themed float and third place was the 10th grade float “Life.”
The Tigers played a hard-fought game Friday night.
Despite four quarters of intense action, the Tigers came up short against The Villages 45-21.
