Miss Gray, Mr. Turner crowned THS royalty

Sunny Gray and Jacob Turner were crowned Trenton High School’s 2011 homecoming queen and king as the Tigers rolled over the P.K. Yonge Blue Wave in a 47-7 victory Friday night.
Friday night’s festivities capped off a successful week of homecoming festivities in keeping with this year’s homecoming theme, “Homecoming Around the World.” Students highlighted various countries throughout the week by dressing up for spirit days Monday through Thursday. On Monday students dressed as wacky tacky tourists, then on Tuesday students arrived at school wearing neon colors in celebration of airport security day. Wednesday was grade level theme day and Thursday was orange crush day where students sported their Tiger colors.


Jacob Turner was crowned 2011 homecoming king by 2010 king O.J. George.


Sunny Gray was crowned 2011 homecoming queen.

Due to a teacher worker day on Friday, the annual homecoming parade was held on Thursday afternoon. Just after 2 p.m. colorful floats and waving attendants riding atop flashy cars strolled down Main Street offering big smiles and handfuls of candy.
Students spent countless hours decorating floats for the annual parade, which spotlighted various countries from throughout the world. First place went to the senior class with their Australia float. The junior class took second place with an American themed float and third place was 5th grade with a float spotlighting China.
The 5th grade also won first place in the hall decorating contest with their rendition of China. Second place went to the 8th grade, who decorated an African themed hallway. Third place went to the 9th grade with their Brazilian hallway.
On Thursday night fans flocked to the football field for Tiger Growl to see who would be crowned Trenton High School’s 2011 homecoming king. Tiger fans were also treated to a number of hilarious skits performed by the student body. The junior class won first place in the skit competition with their rendition of Forrest Gump. Second place went to the senior class and third place was the 9th grade class.
Homecoming 2011 drew a massive crowd to Tiger field on Friday night. Former Trenton High School graduates dressed in their orange and black to attend the football game. The Tigers will play again on Friday night at Hilliard beginning at 7:30 p.m.
