Legislative Delegation Hearing is Oct. 12

Submitted

State Senator Steve Oelrich recently announced that the annual legislative delegation hearing for Gilchrist County has been scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Senator Oelrich and Representative Elizabeth Porter represent the citizens of Gilchrist County in the Florida Legislature.
Each year, the delegation holds a public hearing in order to provide local officials and the public an opportunity to discuss any issues of interest with their legislators.
“We look forward to hearing from local officials and the citizens of Gilchrist County about state issues which may be of concern to them,” said Oelrich. “It is important to Representative Porter and I to have input from the people who have elected us to office so that we can go to Tallahassee and take the message of the voters with us.”
In addition to hearing from local residents and officials, the delegation will consider two proposed local bills. The Gilchrist County School District has requested a local bill which would authorize the use of racetrack funds for capital improvements and the purchase of school equipment. A second local bill, requested by the Florida Department of Community Affairs, would repeal a Special Act which created the inactive Gilchrist County Development Authority. Residents who wish to speak to these issues may do so at this hearing.
The delegation hearing will be held in the Gilchrist County Commission Chamber in Trenton.
