POW/MIA Table Ceremony

Veterans gathered at the Gilchrist County Memorial Park on Friday morning to honor and remember prisoners of war and those listed as missing in action.
“This is a ceremony to remember our nation’s heroes,” said Jim Mash, Gilchrist County Veterans’ Service Officer. “Those who swore on their lives to protect our values and defend our nation.”

Veterans Ted Henley, Bill Cummings and Mike Harrell stand at the table set up in remembrance
of all prisoners of war and those missing in action.

A table for one was set up with a white tablecloth and an empty chair. There was a wine glass, candle, black ribbon, single rose, red ribbon, faded picture, slice of lemon, salt and a bible placed on the table as a remembrance.
