Two High Springs men were killed after their vehicles hit head-on at 4:25 p.m. Saturday on US 441 near Coleman Lane in Columbia County, reported Corporal Rodney Howard of the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troy E. Bond, 49, was traveling south on US 441 driving a 1993 Ford Ranger pickup truck.
Allan D. Witt, 71, was traveling north on US 441 driving a 1997 Ford pickup when the oncoming truck crossed the center line of the highway while passing a bicyclist traveling south in the west portion of the area painted on US 441.
When the Ford Ranger pickup crossed the centerline, the left front of the truck collided with the front of the Ford pickup traveling north. The impact caused the Ranger to rotate in a counter clockwise direction and over turn on its left side and it landed on a portion of the west shoulder of the pavement. The Ford pickup also rotated counter clockwise and traveled onto the east shoulder of the highway where it landed facing northwest.
Columbia County EMS was dispatched to the scene. The Emergency medical staff pronounced the drivers of both vehicles deceased on scene.
