Gilchrist County residents Jerry Wright and Randy Roberts were elected last week to serve as Suwannee River Fair directors.
Dixie and Levy counties had no election, as directors Tim Alexander, Troy Johnson, Mickey Beauchamp and Loran Brookins had no opposition.
Gilchrist County resident Hugh Thomas was nominated as a potential director representing Gilchrist County, but was ultimately appointed secretary/treasurer of the Suwannee River Fair Board.

During a board of directors meeting held after the public meeting on Tuesday evening, a slate of officers for the 2012 Suwannee River Fair was selected. Levy County native Loran Brookins will once again serve as Fair president. Frank Dola, also of Levy County will serve as vice president of the Suwannee River Fair Board.
The 2012 Suwannee River Fair will be held March 8-10 and March 16-21.
Advisor and leader meetings, that are open to all interested parents, will be held at the fairgrounds on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 6:30 p.m. At these meetings, the board of directors and show superintendents will go over all fair rules that have been revised leading up to the 2012 fair. Major changes to the summary sheets and record books have been made this year, so the fair board is encouraging everyone to attend at least one of the September meetings. At these meetings, there will be a complete review of all changes and fair officials will be available to answer any questions.
Weigh-in/Tag-in dates for the 2012 fair are: Fat steers on October 1 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Feeder steers on December 3 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Swine on December 10 from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and Heifers on December 10 from 10 a.m. to Noon.
