Corbin will be in concert at FGC on Aug. 17

Country music star Easton Corbin is set to highlight the inaugural season of FGC Entertainment, Florida Gateway College’s revitalized performing arts series that will begin in August.
Replacing the college’s Lyceum Series of the past 20 years, FGC Entertainment continues the college’s mission of providing quality entertainment to its students and the community. This year, though, the college chose to restructure its lineup, focusing on a more fresh and modern lineup that would appeal to a broader range of attendees. The series will also move from a six-show format to 10 shows, beginning in August and running through April.
Ken Block and Drew Copeland from Sister Hazel, America’s hottest illusionist Jason Bishop, NACA Entertainer of the Year Golden Dragon Acrobats, and Broadway star and Lake City Community College graduate Norm Lewis are a handful of the other acts set to perform during the season.
The complete series schedule is:
August 17 – Easton Corbin – North Florida’s own whose first two singles have hit No. 1 on the country music charts. Corbin won the American Country Award’s New/Breakthrough Artist of the Year for 2010 and was nominated for the Academy of Country Music Awards top new solo vocalist. He is considered the premier rising star in country music.
September 10 – Let It Be: A Tribute to the Beatles – America’s premier tribute to the Beatles that takes you through the various musical styles of the Beatles with stage and full costume changes.
September 23 – Country Superstar TBA
October 22 – Sister Hazel’s Ken Block and Drew Copeland – The lead singers from the Gainesville-based rock band Sister Hazel, Ken Block and Drew Copeland, will perform all of the band’s hits, including the No. 1 Adult Top 40 hit “All For You,” during this acoustic show.
November 18 – Norm Lewis – One of Broadway’s most recognizable names, Norm Lewis has been featured in “Les Miserables,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Sweeney Todd,” “Chicago,” and “Miss Saigon.” Lewis is also a graduate of Lake City Community College.
December 2 – Cigar City Big Band Christmas – This Christmas-themed spectacular features a 17-piece big band will get you in the Christmas spirit.
January 28, 2012 – Illusionist Jason Bishop –Bishop, the 2006 APCA Performing Artist of the Year, will amaze you with his stunning and original state-of-the-art magic, including his breathtaking Double Levitation trick.
February 17, 2012 – Golden Dragon Acrobats – Direct from Hibei, China, the Golden Dragon Acrobats are the reigning NACA (National Association of Campus Activities) Entertainers of the Year. Their performance combines award-winning acrobatics, traditional dance, spectacular costumes, ancient and contemporary music and theatrical techniques to present a show of breathtaking skill and spellbinding beauty.
March 2, 2012 – Barrage – A high-octane fiddle-fest that features an international, multi-talented cast performing an eclectic mix of music, song and dance. This is their last tour before a multi-year stop in Las Vegas.
April 14, 2012 – Loveloud – This Wellborn-based alternative/rock group has opened for Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and consists of Steven Williams, vocals/guitar; Jason Flynn, guitar; Daniel McClure, drums; and Elliot Redish, bass.

Individual show and season tickets will go on sale June 25th during a special event at the college’s Levy Performing Arts Center, where prospective attendees can pick their seats for the entire season. Individual shows will vary in price, but season tickets are $75 for students, $150 for general admission and $300 for VIP seating.
