Gilchrist County 4-H’ers win
state poultry judging contest

There may not be one single chicken house in Gilchrist County, but that didn’t stop four local 4-H members from winning the state poultry judging contest on June 14 at the University of Florida. Chandler Ash DeCubellis, Colten Rucker, Erin Jones and Cody Norton represented Gilchrist County well in the intermediate division, explained Chris DeCubellis, 4-H county agent. The 4-H’ers judged live chickens, carcasses, eggs and chicken parts. Overall, Cody Norton placed fifth high individual in the state for the intermediate age group.
