Ogden named new park manager at Otter Springs

Kadie Ogden is the new park manager at Otter Springs Park and Campground.
The Chiefland native started work on June 18 and has already put in a considerable number of hours cleaning the park up.
With six years experience working for the Florida Park Service, Ogden said she was looking for a new challenge and an opportunity to move back to the tri-county area when she accepted the park manager position.
Ogden explained that she volunteered at Manatee Springs State Park while she was in high school and developed a love for the outdoors, one shared by her grandparents who have spent 25 years volunteering with the Florida Park Service, and her mother, who works at Camp Helen State Park in Pensacola.
While working for the Florida Park Service, Kadie worked at Manatee Springs State Park, Fort Clinch State Park on Amelia Island and Lake Griffin State Park in Fruitland.
“I just love being able to provide fun for the whole family at a safe recreation spot,” Ogden said.
The new park manager said she hopes to make Otter Springs more child friendly by getting more picnic tables near the springs. Ogden said she is also looking into putting in a playground, as well as starting programs and events at the springs.
Otter Springs Park and Campground is now on Facebook, so check it out, or call 463-0800 for more information. Otter Springs is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
