Jackie Adams named new Bell postmaster

By Carrie A. Mizell
After four months spent working as officer in charge, Jackie Adams received word last week that she had been appointed postmaster of the Bell Post Office.
A High Springs resident, Adams said she is looking forward to serving the community of Bell, not to mention her easy commute to and from work each day.
Twenty-three years ago, Adams began working for the United States Postal Service (USPS). Her son is also employed by USPS, as a rural carrier working out of Fort White.
Adams explained that the Bell Post Office has been run very well in the past, under the leadership of Greg Maracic who served as postmaster from January 2007 up until his retirement in the fall of 2011.
“The clerks and carriers at Bell do an excellent job,” Adams said, referring to the post office’s nine employees.
The Bell Post Office services a total of 2500 boxes and carriers run four routes each day.
Open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m., the Bell Post Office has maintained regular hours when other post offices throughout the country have had to cut back. Due to the volume of customers, Adams said she has heard of no plans to change the Bell Post Office’s hours of operation.
