115 kids enjoy summer at the library

By Jennifer Geiger

Excitement was in the air on Thursday at the Gilchrist County Library as 115 children and 50 parents celebrated the second week of the 2011 ‘One World, Many Stories’ summer reading program.

‘Merry Moo’ from the Dairy Council of Florida made an appearance and the children had a chance to get acquainted and take fun pictures together.
But the real treat was Dana Langford, education coordinator for the Gilchrist County Soil and Water Conservation, who taught the kids about milk and where it really comes from.
Dana’s friendly and professional presentation also offered each child a chance to learn what it feels like to milk a cow, make a moo cow puppet and take home a special goody bag.
The musical puppet shows, story telling and special guests will continue each week in June on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.
