Langford to seek re-election
To the Citizens of Gilchrist County:
My name is Sharon Akins Langford, and I am seeking re-election for Gilchrist County Commissioner, District 1. I am a life-long 5th generation resident of this county. I am 42 years old and have been married for 23 years to Edgar Langford, the son of Ann Langford and the late Junior Langford of Trenton. We have two children, Cody, age 19 and Shelby, age 16. My parents are the late Stanley Akins and the late Ruth Akins both of Bell.
I graduated from Trenton High School in 1988. I later went on to further my education and received my AA Degree at Santa Fe Community College and my BA Degree at Saint Leo University. I have a degree in Elementary Education and taught 5th grade at Bell Elementary for 14 years. I am currently employed and over various programs with the Gilchrist County School District office. I also work on our family farm.
I would like to thank every citizen in Gilchrist County for allowing me to serve as your county commissioner and having trust in me for the past 7½ years. With mandates from the state, we have had to cut our budget. By doing this, I have had to make some tough decisions. I am a firm believer in hard work and spending your money wisely. As your commissioner, there have been many accomplishments made over the past 7½ years that I am very proud of. A few of them include lowering your taxes by 17%, paving over 100 miles of roadway in Gilchrist County through state grant programs, and upgrading our parks and boat ramps using grant money from the state. We also added an 11,000 square foot addition to our courthouse funded by state grants. All of these projects and many more have been accomplished while maintaining a balanced budget every year.
I appreciate the support that you have given me over the past years. I feel honored and blessed to serve the citizens of this county. I have the experience necessary and the desire to continue to serve you. I respectfully and humbly ask for your support to allow me to continue to serve Gilchrist County as your county commissioner. If you have any questions/concerns or if I can be of any service to anyone, please call me at 352-213-2395. You may also email me at SharonLangford1@yahoo.com. Thank you for your consideration and your continued support as your county commissioner. I would appreciate your vote on November 6th.
Sincerely,
Sharon Akins Langford
