The Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 79-year-old resident that lived by himself at 532 SE 30th Avenue was found dead Sunday afternoon when a neighbor stopped by the residence to check on him.
A neighbor found Olen Kenneth Farley, 79, when he stopped by the Farley residence to check on the elderly gentleman. Major Smith reported no one had been in contact with Mr. Farley for a reported three weeks prior to finding his remains in the backyard Sunday. The Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office classified this death as a crime scene upon arriving there Sunday afternoon. “We believe there was no foul play involved in the death of Mr. Farley, but a medical examiner came and received the body and is performing an investigation to look into the cause of his death,” reported Daniel Slaughter, Sheriff of Gilchrist County.
