A 46-year-old Bell woman, who swerved to miss a vehicle that pulled out in front of her on Tuesday evening, died after being ejected from her pickup truck.
Cheri Lynn Hutto was driving north on County Road 313 in a 2003 Ford F250, when a 2006 Chevrolet C2500 driven by Paul Fuller, 76, of Trenton failed to stop at the intersection of County Road 334 and Country Road 313. Hutto steered her truck left just before reaching the intersection in an attempt to avoid Fuller’s vehicle, which was traveling west on Country Road 334.
The left front corner of Fuller’s truck collided with the right front side of Hutto’s truck. On impact, Fuller’s truck reportedly rotated clockwise in a northwesterly direction before coming to a final stop on the southbound shoulder of County Road 313.
Hutto’s truck veered left upon impact, traveling in a northwesterly direction also onto the southbound shoulder of County Road 313.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, Hutto was not wearing a seatbelt when the accident occurred, and she was ejected from her vehicle.
Hutto’s truck continued moving in a northwesterly direction where it ran through a fence and hit several trees before coming to a final stop.
Fuller was reportedly wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred. He incurred serious injuries and was transported to Shands Hospital in Gainesville. No new information on Fuller’s condition was available at press time.
Charges are pending further investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
