190 graduate from kindergarten
By Carrie A. Mizell
Dressed in their Sunday best and grinning from ear to ear, kindergarten students at Bell and Trenton elementary schools walked single file through the doors of their school auditorium last week as Pomp and Circumstance played.

Kindergarten students at Trenton Elementary School sang several songs
during their graduation ceremony last week.
In early June of 2024, many of the students will attend a very similar graduation ceremony as they prepare to accept their high school diplomas. For now, they have mastered the alphabet, numbers and a rainbow of colors.

On May 29 and May 31, both Trenton and Bell Elementary Schools held graduation ceremonies where kindergarten students were presented with completion certificates, as family members and friends looked on.
The ceremonies were unique in that Bell Elementary School’s featured a slide show with pictures taken of the 2012 kindergarten graduates throughout the school year. At Trenton Elementary School’s graduation ceremony on Tuesday, May 29 Carsen McKenzie, a kindergarten student in Mrs. Perryman’s class read aloud a poem she had written:
Happy, Happy, Happy Me!
Look how happy we can be.
With a smile on our face
And a wink on our eye
Now its time to say goodbye!
