Gentry announces candidacy for Tax Collector

Friends and Neighbors of Gilchrist County,
My name is Mitchell Gentry. Because you desire to be informed voters, and because I am seeking the office of Tax Collector for Gilchrist County, I would like to tell you a little about myself, and how being a proven experienced leader would benefit you as your next tax collector for Gilchrist County.
My life of leadership would not be complete without telling you about my marriage to Theresa, thirty years ago. As many of you know Theresa, works at Best Drugs in Trenton. We have two grown children who, in turn, have blessed us with three beautiful grandchildren. Son, Steven, and wife, Nicole, are parents to nine-year-old, Colby, and our daughter, Leah, and husband, Jim, are parents to seven-year-old daughter, Emma, and son, James, who is four. We attend church at New Hope Family Church in Bell, where I serve as vice chairman, and adult Sunday school teacher.
I am one of eight children, and grew up in Gilchrist County. I graduated from Trenton High School, after which I spent three years serving in the U.S. Army, part of which included a tour of duty in Germany, working in military intelligence. Upon my honorable discharge I became self-employed, and soon became a general contractor.
For the past thirty-year journey of leadership I earned a degree in Business Administration, served as a Gilchrist County Commissioner (The first commissioner to become certified in Gilchrist County), and also served as Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners. As a Florida certified general contractor and corporate manager I have honed my leadership and management skills through hands on experience. My experience also includes having served as treasurer of the Character Council of Gilchrist County, and past director of the Chamber of Commerce.
Our youth is our future and my support goes to organizations that teach character, confidence, self worth, and leadership in both Bell and Trenton.
Presently, I am the manager of Hart Springs where for the past three years my staff and I, through hard work and persistence have transformed it both in appearance and operation. I love our county, and if you elect me I promise to take the same proven ability used at Hart Springs to lead the office of Tax Collector.
I believe that a proven experienced leader to be the most important asset needed for your tax collector. The benefits are; First, you will receive better service by electing a leader who can complement the ninety plus years experience of a capable staff; Secondly, I believe service to you, without additional cost, can be accomplished with my leadership; Thirdly, you will always be treated respectfully, and fairly.
I sincerely ask for your vote and support.
Thank you,
Mitchell Gentry
