A Jacksonville man was arrested for aggravated battery Saturday after a fight broke out at Ginnie Springs Campground.
Robert A. French, 18, of 7710 Durrance Road in Jacksonville, was arrested and transported to the Gilchrist County Jail on Saturday evening and released the following day on a $10,000 bond.
According to Lt. David Aderholt of the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office, French’s friend, Nicholas E. Curran, 19, also of Jacksonville, was fighting with a person in the road near Dogwood Springs at Ginnie Springs Campground. French intervened and hit the person Curran was struggling with, using a beer bottle, which caused severe injury to his own friend.
Curran was taken to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, where he was listed in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit on Tuesday.
The incident is still under investigation.
