Baby Thomas gets a new heart!

Many prayers were answered on Monday evening when 9-month-old Wyatt Thomas underwent a successful heart transplant. The son of Johnny and Ann Thomas, who live in north Gilchrist County, Wyatt has been at Shands Hospital awaiting a heart transplant since shortly after he was born on August 13, 2009.
According to Ann Thomas, Wyatt’s surgery was a success and the baby actually came out of the operating room shortly after 1 a.m. on Tuesday.
The Gilchrist County Journal first shared Wyatt Thomas’ touching story in the April 22, 2010 issue. Since then, the Thomas family has been overwhelmed with love and support from our readers.
