Local students win GSWCD poster contest

The Gilchrist County Soil and Water Conservation District (GSWCD) honored the following poster contestants who participated in the competition which was open to all students from kindergarten to 12th grade this year for the 2009 Stewardship Week of April 27th thru April 30th.
The theme this year for Soil and Stewardship Week was ‘DIG IT – The Secrets of Soil.’
The awards this year were as follows: 1st Place $25.00, 2nd Place $15.00 and 3rd Place $10.00.
All 1st and 2nd Place winners’ posters will continue on to the Association of Florida Conservation District Contest to be held May 14th in Live Oak.
The GSWCD Poster Contest consists of Five (5) Divisions, Kindergarten – 1st grade, 2nd thru 3rd grade, 4th thru 6th grade, 7th thru 9th grade and 10th thru 12 grade.
The following students received a certificate and ribbon plus a check:
Divisions 4th thru 6th grade winners were Jaycee Thomas-first place, Madison Holder-second place and Dillon Paulling-third place.
