Raven begins duties as police chief

The City of Trenton has begun a new era in community law enforcement as Trenton resident Jim Raven has now accepted the Oath of Office and become the Chief of the Trenton Police Department.

Chief Raven will be working with the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office and Trenton residents to provide law enforcement to the residents and the businesses in Trenton.
In other business, the City Commission took the first step to provide animal control services in the City of Trenton Tuesday as the Commission approved an interlocal agreement with Gilchrist County. Four Commissioners voted to enter into an Interlocal Agreement with Gilchrist County to begin Animal Control service in the municipality as soon as the Chairman of the Gilchrist Commission signs the contract.
Attorney David M. Lang reported to the board the signed interlocal agreement by the City of Trenton will be submitted to Gilchrist County, and they will make the necessary changes before approving the agreement. The Gilchrist County Commission approved the interlocal agreement in their May 16 meeting. The services will begin in Trenton when the contract is finalized.
Taylor Brown, City Manager, reported to the Commission that the City of Trenton and Gilchrist County agreed on $20,000 annual service fees. He explained the agreement with Gilchrist County would allow Trenton to pro-rate the service fees depending on the remaining period of time the service is provided in the City of Trenton in 2011.
