25-year-old Trenton man dies in accidentBy Carrie A. Mizell
A Trenton man died early last Tuesday morning when he steered the motorcycle he was driving out of the path of an oncoming Mack truck that swerved into his lane.
Cory Marshall Sibertson, 25, of Trenton, was northbound on County Road 235, two miles north of Newberry, when the accident occurred. Sibertson steered the 2002 Harley motorcycle he was driving to the left, attempting to avoid a 2000 Mack tractor truck that drove into his path. The motorcyle overturned onto its right side during Sibertson’s attempt to avoid collison. The driver was thrown from the motorcyle and came to rest on the west dirt shoulder of the road. Alachua County Fire Rescue pronounced Sibertson dead at the scene of the accident. Eddie Jackson, 66, of Lake Butler, was reportedly driving south on County Road 235 when he attempted to turn the Mack tractor truck left into the driveway of Lime Rock Products Inc., when the accident occurred. According to Lt. P.V. Riordan, of the Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcycle slid into the tractor’s tandem tires on the right side of the tractor truck before coming to a controlled stop in the driveway of Lime Rock Products, Inc. Charges are pending further investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. |
