Don’t drink and drive!

By Carrie A. Mizell

Seeing fellow classmates covered in blood, locked in handcuffs or covered by a sheet and loaded into a hearse gave many Bell High School students a wake up call last Thursday.

In preparation for Friday night’s junior/senior prom, Bell High School held a mock accident on the football field to remind students to make good choices and never drink and drive.
Event organizers called in the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office, Gilchrist County EMS, Gilchrist County Fire-Rescue, the Florida Highway Patrol, Shands, and Roberts Funeral Home to assist with the accident scene.

The accident involved a Bell High School student who was driving home from prom drunk and got into an accident killing one passenger and seriously injuring another all because of one bad choice the driver made.
