Chiefland woman killed Saturday in wreck

A Chiefland woman traveling south on US Alt 27 was killed Saturday morning when she lost control of her car and struck a tree.
Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Ganus reported Kelly J. Allen, 52, of Chiefland was traveling south on US Alt. 27, just north of the intersection of CR 339 north of Bronson when she was reported to have lost control of the 1990 Mercury 2-door car. The car left the road and traveled onto the right shoulder and struck a tree with the left front side. The vehicle traveled a few feet further before striking another tree with the left front of the vehicle. The car slightly rotated in a counter clockwise direction and landed against the second tree facing east.
Emergency Medical Service technicians arrived on scene and were reported to have pronounced the driver deceased at 10:07 a.m. The driver was reported to have not been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Visitation and memorial services will be held on Friday, April 16 at the home of Roger and Jean Starling which is located at 7351 NW 168th Lane in Fanning Springs. Visitation will be throughout the day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the memorial service at 1 p.m. Arrangements are under the care of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services.
