First cow is the charm for Bell Middle Schooler

Amazed. Totally amazed, is just how 12-year-old Lowgan Daniels describes what it felt like to win Grand Champion Feeder Steer at the Suwannee River Fair on Tuesday.

The Bell Middle School FFA member said that “Old Yeller,” his 740-pound steer, marked the first animal he has shown at the annual livestock fair.
After receiving a hug from his Bell Middle School FFA Advisor Debbie Jones, Lowgan stood quietly while cameras flashed around him.
Despite having heard Steer Show Judge, Dr. Chad Carr describe his steer as stout, with a good body, Lowgan still appeared stunned by the news.
Lowgan’s steer, along with the reserve champion steer, both came off of Lowgan’s grandfather Larry Lindsey’s Gilchrist County farm.
The Reserve Champion Feeder Steer was shown by Zachary Music of Dixie Middle FFA.
Out of 130 feeder steers that made up 13 classes, Judge Chad Carr selected first place winners in each class. Those winners were: Class 1-Jacob Richburg of Chiefland Sr. FFA, Class 2-Tyler Williams of Bronson Sr. FFA, Class 3-Danielle Kearns of Kountry Bumpkins 4-H Club, Class 4-Beecher Bullock of Williston Sr. FFA, Class 5-Chiefland Sr. FFA, Class 6-Orrie Roberts of Bell FFA, Class 7-Trenton Jr. FFA, Class 8-Gray Childers of Riverside Wranglers 4-H Club, Class 9-Tymber Anderson of Riverside Wranglers 4-H Club, Class 10-Lowgan Daniels of Bell Middle FFA, Class 11-Zachary Music of Dixie Middle FFA, Class 12-Cody Norton of Riverside Wranglers 4-H Club and Class 13-Samantha Bruce of Bell Sr. FFA.
