Bell takes grand feeder and reserve fat steer

Tuesday was a big day for Bell FFA as members Lowgan Daniels took grand champion feeder steer and Janie Reed won reserve champion fat steer.
This year’s fair marks the second year in a row Lowgan Daniels has shown the grand champion feeder steer.
Daniels’ 715-pound feeder steer was selected just before lunch from a show ring full of potential champions shown by Katie Norris of Bronson Sr. FFA, Kason Petty of Dixie Middle FFA, Hunter Parrish of Trenton Sr. FFA, Colton Rucker of Riverside Wranglers 4-H, Aubrey Brown of Wilcox 4-H, Nathan Thisse of Osceola 4-H, Harold Tillis of Chiefland Sr. FFA, Tymber Anderson of Riverside Wranglers 4-H, Madison Starnes of Morriston Cowpokes 4-H, Cody Norton of Riverside Wranglers 4-H, Kayla Petty of Dixie Sr. FFA, Chiefland Sr. FFA, and Asheton Sanchez of Trenton Sr. FFA.

The day also marked a significant milestone for Janie Reed, whose senior year at Bell High School got a whole lot better when her fat steer “Booger” was selected reserve champion Tuesday.
“Booger” was the ninth and final cow Reed has shown at the fair, so it was only fitting that he be selected second behind Hunter Anderson of Old Town Natives 4-H Club’s steer.
Both Reed and Anderson showed their fat steers in class 5. Anderson’s 1280-pound steer was chosen first in class, followed by Reed’s 1245-pound steer.
When Anderson’s animal was selected grand champion, Reed brought “Booger” back into the ring and judge Jary Douglas took one more look at the animal before shaking Reed’s hand.
Reed, who is the daughter of Jeff and Joan Reed, was selected from a grand champion ring that included the following exhibitors, Kelsey VanAernam of Dixie Explorers 4-H, Dana Beam of Trenton Middle FFA, Adrianna Hodge of Bell Middle FFA, Erin Jones of Trenton Sr. FFA, Alyssa Hodge of Bell Sr. FFA, and Jerry Mills III of Morriston Cowpokes 4-H.
