On behalf of the President and the Secretary of the Army, we are pleased to announce that Benjamin Caleb Smith from Trenton High School in Gilchrist County, Florida, has been accepted by the United States Military Academy for admission. His appointment to the Class of 2015 is an outstanding accomplishment. In gaining admission, he has demonstrated exceptional potential for future service to the US Army and to the nation. West Point’s education and training programs will give him the opportunity to fully develop that potential.
West Point exists to provide leaders of character for our Army. West Point requires cadets with determination, integrity, self-discipline, strength of character, endurance, and a willingness to work hard. Each cadet will participate in the Cadet Leader Development System, which is a rigorous program of academics, military education and training, character development, and athletics. It will be demanding and difficult, and he will be expected to perform effectively under those pressures, but we are confident that he will succeed.
With over 13,000 applicants and only 1275 offers of admission for the Class of 2015, we are proud to offer Benjamin Caleb Smith this appointment and look forward to welcoming him to West Point’s Class of 2015! GO ARMY!
