A former Trenton High School football coach was recently voted in to the Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) Hall of Fame.
Perry Brown, who coached at THS from 1982 to 1986, was nominated by his peers for the prestigious honor, which was reviewed by the FACA Awards Committee, and later voted on by the FACA Board of Directors.
A luncheon and induction ceremony was held at the Daytona Beach Hilton Oceanfront Resort on Dec. 13. At the ceremony, each one of the six coaches inducted into the 34th Hall of Fame Class was recognized.

Coach Perry Brown is shown with his son, Garett. Garett was the quarterback in 2005 for Mosley High School, a football team his dad coaches. Garett is now a junior at Florida State University, attending classes at the school’s Panama City campus.

Brown and his family left Trenton in 1986 after he accepted a position coaching football at Pelham High School in Pelham, Georgia, where he coached just one year before returning to the tri-county area. In 1987, Brown accepted a coaching position at Chiefland High School where he worked up until 1989.
During his 27 years as a head football coach, Brown has coached throughout the state of Florida from as far south as Dade City up to the Panhandle. He is currently the head football coach at Mosley High School in Lynn Haven, Florida, which is near Panama City.
Over the summer Coach Brown and his wife, Vickie Horne Brown celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. The couple have two children Jessica, 23, who is a student at the University of South Alabama and Garett, 22, a Florida State University student studying at the Panama City campus.
Coach Brown reportedly has 188 career wins and 99 losses. Career highlights include a 3A State Championship win in 1992, while he was coaching at Pasco High School.
Coach Brown’s selection into the Hall of Fame was based on his coaching record, championship wins and head coaching tenure, as well as FACA service and awards.
