Fire destroys Bryant home

Paul and Susan Bryant were out of town hunting on Monday night when a fire ravaged their home. The fire reportedly started just after midnight, possibly in a detached carport area east of the home.

According to Billy Careccia, Gilchrist County fire chief, strong winds blew the fire from the carport onto the home.
Though the Bryants lost all their possessions in the fire, Susan stood in her front yard Tuesday morning with a grateful heart.
“We have what’s important,” Susan said. “What we lost were just things.”
Paul was reportedly hunting in Dixie County at the time of the fire and Susan was in Madison with her daughter-in-law and grandchildren hunting when their son Todd Bryant called her to say a fire had destroyed their home of 33 years.
